I’ve just found out that my internet provider, Demon Internet, have inflicted their Fair Usage Policy (otherwise known as a “usage cap”) on me without bothering to tell me about it or solicit my agreement (which I wouldn’t have given had I known). And since I already seem to have exceeded their cap, my connection is restricted to 128kbit/s between 9am and 11pm until my 30-day rolling usage total goes down. I’ve written them a stern email about this, but I doubt it will have any effect, so in the meantime I’ll have to look for a program to allow me to monitor my download usage, and after that I’ll have to start shopping around for a new ISP. Anybody know any UK ISPs that still do ADSL without a usage cap?
